We were told education would save us; we were lied to.

When I saw this I literally just started crying… I am going through such a rough time right now financially and so are many of my friends and family members. One of my closest friends just told me today that he is planning on commiting suicide… I don’t know what to do and it’s tearing me apart, I feel so helpless!!! This world has got to change for the better and now!!

This is why I’m reluctant to take out student loans.  My mom didn’t pay off her student loans until last year, and she’s one of the lucky ones that got a good job.  I don’t know what to do.

Maybe y’all should have listened to Avenue Q: ”… Can’t pay my bills yet, cause I have no skills yet, the world is a big scary place…”

Studies on Chaucer, Elliot, etc. don’t really translate to non-academic tasks, at least, not in the practical, concrete way our profs. told us.

In the end, it’s not the 1%’s fault you chose an academic degree and tried to get a non-academic job with it. It’s higher education’s fault for lying to you and telling you there’d be work for whatever you studied. I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse for it, and even less of one for those schools that encourage frightened or nervous students to “hide in grad school until the economy improves”. What a load of crap. 

F’ the greedy education institutions, that’s what these signs should say.
