I had this happen for the first time yesterday.
Y U LIMIT MY CREATIVE EXPRESSION, TUMBLR?!?!
If a power Tumblrer slept 6 hours a night and spent, say, 3 hours a day doing something not-Tumblr, that remaining 15 hours would mean posting once every 3 minutes 36 seconds to meet the quota.
Most people wouldn’t actually sit in front of their computer for 15 hours though, constantly posting. During that time, let’s say 20% of their attention (which is still a lot) is focused on Tumblr. That’s about 3 hours, which means a post every 43.2 seconds. I think we’re approaching the limits of page loads on the site here.
And anyways, how much creativity is being expressed when, to get that volume of posts, a person is essentially just reblogging their wall? There is no rigor in that, simply “Ooo, pretty.”
